Day of Surgery Instructions
Bathing
Please bathe or shower prior to your surgery with antibacterial soap. You might not have to make an extra trip to the store, many bar soaps; such as Dial, Irish Spring and Lever 2000 have antibacterial properties. Remove all makeup. Do not use lotions, oils, perfume or hair spray after bathing.
Payments Due
Please remember to bring payment for any out of pocket amounts discussed during your preoperative conversation. For amounts due over $500, we require certified funds such as a cashier’s check, money order, or credit card. Personal checks may be accepted for amounts less than $500.
Check-in
When you arrive at the Center we ask that you check-in at the registration desk. Please present your photo ID and insurance card (if appropriate) upon arrival. A member of our staff will verify your personal and insurance information and ask you to provide us with a number for your ride home so that we may contact them when you are ready to be discharged.
Following Admission
- After checking in, you will be admitted to the pre-op area where a nurse will review your health history with you, answer any questions you may have, and prepare you for your surgery.
- If you are scheduled for a procedure with an anesthesiologist, he or she will discuss your anesthesia plan with you and answer any questions you may have. Most of our anesthesiologists will call our patients the night before surgery. If you do not receive a phone call, you will definitely have time the morning of surgery to speak to your anesthesiologist and ask any questions you may have.
- At the appropriate time you will be escorted to the operating room by your surgical nurse.
- During surgery your escort may remain in a reception area and, after surgery, may rejoin you in the recovery room.
